Mimotek is a global software company that specialises in digital document solutions. Its founders, Micha Moses and Mike Clarke, each spent over ten years supporting PostScript and PDF technologies for Adobe Systems Europe in commercial and technical roles respectively. Now they are using their experience to build and market solutions for the publishing market based on PDF technology, focusing on merging print and digital formats. Since starting work early in 2002, Mimotek has developed a library of core code from which it has built its first two products, Mimotek Structuriser and Mimotek Reader.

The company is now looking for freelance software developers to join its team in order to extend the core technology into new areas and to build new products.

The Technology

Mimotek's area of expertise is the manipulation of the content and structure of PDF documents. In particular, we make use of the Logical Structure part of the PDF Specification to identify and manipulate content within PDF pages. The Structuriser product, for example, automatically recognises the articles on a newspaper page, writes the document structure back into the PDF file as Logical Structure and allows content to be exported in various formats at various levels of aggregation.

The tools are currently written as plug-ins to Adobe Acrobat 6 & 7 running under Microsoft Windows. The development platforms are Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and .NET. We also work with other technologies including XML, SVG, PHP, SQL, HTML and Javascript.
